Henry Glascock, son of Francis Jackson and Isabel Moffett Glascock was born in Scott's Prairie neighbhood March 21, 1856. He died after a brief illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W (?) A McCord in Lilbourn, Missouri Jan 21, 1916 being 59 years and 10 months old. His father, Francis Jackson Glascock, was born in Egypt, Illinois on Jan 21, 1821. He was of a family that has left its name well recorded in the history of Fountain County. Jack Glascock was a cousin of that famous character known to every child of school age in the united States as Stonewall Jackson. He purchased land in Mill Creek Township from the heirs of Bob Alexander, who bought it from the government when VanBuren was president of the United States. He first married Elizabeth Reynolds. To this union two children were born, Harriet Rivers of Hillsboro and Harris Glascock of Veedersburg, Indiana. Elizabeth Reynolds, having died early in their married life, Jack Glascock intermarried with Isabel Moffett who was born on April 14, 1820 in White Water, Indiana. They had two children, Nancy who died young and Henry, the subject of this sketch.
Henry Glascock grew to manhood in the neighborhood of his birth, receiving what education the schools of that day had to offer, and in addition he was given the advantage of some special training in the old Northwestern University at Indianapolis and in Valparaiso. On Oct 17, 1878 Henry Glascock married Francis O. Cade. To this union 3 children were born: Troy C; Mattie Gertrude and Samuel Jackson. Henry Glascock was a prosperous farmer and was also VP of the Bank of Kingman. In politics he was a democrat and was active at times in the councils of his party. Early in life, having been reared in a Christian home, he became a member of the Scott's Priarie Christian Church. He served his church at various times in the capacity both as a deacon and trustee and was thoroughly indoctrinated in the teaching of the Christian Church having learned at the feet of his father.
After the death of his beloved wife and companion, which occurred on June 7, 1910 he made his home with his children. In recent years he suffered declining health and consulted some of the best specialists known to medical profession. He also sought and found some comfort in a less rigorous climate by spending some of his winters in Florida. He is survived by a half brother Harris Glascock of Veedersburg, a half sister, Harriet Rivers of Hillsboro and by 3 children: two sons Troy C. and Samuel Jackson Glascock of Scotts Prairie and one daughter Mattie Gertrude McCord of Lilbourn, Mo.; also other relatives and a host of friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Scotts Prairie Cemetery by the side of those of the wife he had loved so well and close to the grave of his honored father, known over the whole community as Uncle Jack Glascock.
